About Us
I have had dogs all my life, starting with Corgies when i was young, we bred a few select litters for working along with a couple of Lancashire Heelers. As I grew up I wanted a a breed of my own, my dad bought me a Lakeland Terrier, a difficult breed and a sharp learning curve for me, I had a couple of litters but sadly had to give the breed up when I left home, being unable to devote the time and energy to this outgoing breed. I then had a working Yorkshire Terrier who had one litter from which I kept two boys, I enjoyed 14 years with one and 17 with the other. During this time my husband to be bought me a GSD x Rhodesian Ridgeback, another learning curve ensued. We attended training classes which at the time meant check chains and yank, i later learnt better! Zhara excelled in obedience (in everything except retrieve - we never did get her to hold anything) we trained her for agility as well and competed with several good places under our belt. When we got married (24 years ago now) my hubby bought me myfirst GSD, something i had always wanted. I spent nearly 12 months researching pedigrees etc to make sure I got the dog I wanted, It was worth the wait. Tiko loved obedience and was my shadow until her untimely death at the age of 3 in an accident along with our younger shepherd Sasha. My love affair with shepherds has continued with several more being added to our household at differant intervals.
History
In 1995 due to health reasons I decided that at the time another young shepherd was not a good idea, though I still had one shepherd at home, so I started to research small breeds that I could carry on with obedience, possibly agility and maybe have an occasional litter. I had not bred from the shepherds feeling there were enough without me adding to the population - and i missed having puppies around. So entered our first papillon, Maybe, she was the love of my life, I got laughed at during the obedience classes, they didnt think I could train her as well as the shepherds, boy did we prove them wrong. She worked as well as any of the big dogs, my regret is that I didnt have the nerve to enter her into obedience shows with her. She quickly gained her bronze, silver and gold good citizens awards and could hold her own in classes at scent, sendaways and never moved from a stay. The rest is history, I now have my own little family of papillons (and chihuahuas) who I adore, they are kept as part of the family and have free run of the house and garden, most of them either attend obedience or agility classes, though some do prefer to lounge at home!
